Dr. Anandan Murugesan is the first Urologist in Coimbatore, trained in robotic surgery. He is currently associated with Kovai Medical Center and Hospitals as Consultant Urologist-Specialist in Robotic surgery. He began his medical education with the MBBS programme at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in 1996. He did his post-graduation in General Surgery at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and passed with flying colours. During this tenure he developed an interest in Urology. After compleleting MS, he was a resident in Urology in Coimbatore Kidney Center under Dr. Thirumalaisamy. He then joined the Madras Medical College for the MCh (Urology) course in 2006. He also had the opportunity of working with Prof. PB Sivaraman during this period. He completed his MCh in the year 2009, and joined the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (his alma mater). Dr. Anandan pursued his career in Urology under the able guidance of Dr. M Ramalingam, and improved his laparoscopic skills.
Sensing the importance of robotic surgery, Dr. Anandan Murugesan joined the prestigious Medanta Institute for a Fellowship in Robotic Surgery under Dr. NP Gupta and Dr. Rajesh Ahlawat. He is trained in all robotic surgeries including robotic renal transplantation.

He has delivered lecture on ‘Neuroanatomy of bladder’ in TAPASU midterm CUE in May 2016 in addition to oration on cadaver transplantation at Park Institutions on August 14, 2015. He was Co–organizer for Urogynec 2010– Workshop on Urogynecology in June 2010 held in PSG IMSR and was part of an organising committee member for USICON 2008 and TAPASUCON 2012. Dr. Anandan Murugesan has been working with Urology– The Gold Journal as reviewer. He has delivered lectures in Dharapuram, Mettuppalayam, Pollachi IMA meetings on recent advances in urology.
